Well, I have been through it for the last couple weeks. A soreness settled in my "port" area a few weeks ago, thinking I had pulled something or the muscle around it. Well, redness set in and major pain.
Someone told me last weekend to get it looked at, so Tuesday of this week I made an appt.
My fill nurse was so very concerned she "emergency" paged the doctor from the hospital back to the office. He was as well, they took out the 5.6 cc's I had in the band and scheduled a gastric scope to check on the condition of the stomach area around the band to see if it had started eroding from the infection. Three antibiotics later and a few days exposed to them the redness is leaving and the pain is starting to subside.
Luckily, after the scope yesterday it was determined that the band area was fine but that I have ulcers now. Those are from the Aleve I take for my back issues (which is now a no/no...) and stress in my life for the last few months.
So today Dr. Edwards determined that we would take the port out, clean the area free from any left over infection and then repositioning a new port to an new area.
So next week, Wednesday, June 29th I go under the knife for a 3rd time with this band.

Hope the third time is a charm!
I am so sorry you are going through this, but you are so lucky it did not end up being erosion (like me). I miss my band so much! Best wishes for a smooth and successful surgery and recovery :)
I hope everything works out for you. Wishing you all the best the third time around. I too hope it is a charm!
Praying for you. Both for your surgery and back pain.
